MIYAVI is a musician, actor, and philanthropist, bridging cultures across the globe with his music and message. His unique style of guitar playing, “slap technique”, has taken him on 7 world tours in over 30 countries. He has released 12 studio albums.

In addition to his musical activities, he is also active as an actor and model.

MIYAVI made his acting debut in the Hollywood film, “Unbroken”, directed by Angelina Jolie. He has since appeared in “Kong: Skull Island” (2017), the live-action adaptation of the popular manga and tv anime series “Bleach” (20218), Stray (2019), and Maleficent 2 (2019).

As a model, he made an appearance on the Paris Collection runway for Yohji Yamamoto and Y-3, becoming the first Japanese model to be featured in a GUCCI Global Collection ad. In recent years, he has been selected for advertising campaigns for Dell Inc. and McLaren.

In 2017, He became the first Japanese ambassador to be appointed as a UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) Goodwill Ambassador.

In December 2018, MIYAVI released the groundbreaking collaborations album Samurai Sessions Vol. 3: Worlds Collide. Each track on the album features a different artist laying down vocals over MIYAVI’s signature guitar sound. The stellar list of U.S.-based collaborators includes Samuel L. Jackson, Gallant, Mikky Ekko, RAC, Yuna, DUCKWRTH, Bok Nero, NVDES, and Betty Who.

In November of 2022, he announced the formation of a super band “THE LAST ROCKSTARS” with YOSHIKI (X), HYDE (L’arc en Ciel/VAMPS), and SUGIZO (Luna Sea).
